W.G Kingston was always known as George. He was the eldest son of William and Ann Kingston of Bream Creek and was born on the 21/10/1835. At the age of 16 years he was helping his mother run the farm while his father, William, was working at the gold fields in Victoria (1851). In 1856, at the age of 21 years, he married Elizabeth (Betsy) Dunbabin and for a fewyears they occupied a cottage on his father\'s property. During the 1860s he purchased land on the Ragged Tiers and built his home there. He called his property "Pleasant View". George and Betsy had twelve children, six of whom died prior to their mother. They were John - 1876 aged 7 months, Edith (Ada) - 1886 aged 16 years, Will - 1890 aged 32 years, Louisa Ann - 1892 aged 32 years, Elvena - 1898 aged 31 years and James - 1909 aged 44 years. Betsy was helpful to her family and after the death of her eldest daughter, Louisa Ann, she took the youngest child home with her to care for him. She also helped rear Elvena\'s children after the death of their mother. She employed home help after her daughters left home and one of those girls was an orphan girl, one of three sisters, Esther May Shearman. In 1904 Esther married Perc Kingston, who was the fourth son of George and Betsy.Betsy became an active member of the Church of Christ and in the diary of her daughter, Kate, she is mentioned as attending the meetings. Betsy passed away on the 1/6/1909, a week after the death of her son, James. She was 70 years of age. George died at his residence, "Pleasant View", Bream Creek on the 16/4/1917 and in his 82nd year. His obituary notice in the Mercury states he lived on his farm for fifty years and that the adjoining farm belonged to his brother. Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Kingston are both buried in the Bream Creek cemetary.
